Gun Store Robbery Ends Badly for Not-so-smart Robbers

Two masked men burst through the door of the Dixie Gun and Pawn in Mableton, Georgia on Monday. Let’s say that again…two men attempted to ROB A GUN STORE in broad daylight. Then one of them shot at the owner. The owner drew his own weapon and killed one of the robbers, the other fled in a silver Dodge Charger.

[Note: the video mentions a “store employee” having a gun. Both employee and owner were armed it appears by the video, but it was the owner who shot the robber.]

Jimmy Groover’s shop had been burglarized about 20 times before, so he installed security cameras, keeps all guns locked up at night and put bars on the windows.

Two masked men tried to rob his store in the daytime on Monday, and demanded the owner and employee get on the floor or be shot.  That didn’t work out so well for them.

Gun shop owner…close access to guns…you’d think these bozos would have been smarter. But no. Groover felt his life was in jeopardy, and that was all it took to stop the robbery attempt.

“‘Get down on the floor, get down on the floor or I’ll kill you.’ Then they shot at me…

I had no other choice. I had no other choice. I hate that it happened. I’ve been doing this 30 years. Nothing like this has ever happened. I never wanted this to happen but I want to go home at night, too.” Jimmy Groover

In the ensuing exchange of gun fire, the store’s windows were shattered, and one of the robbers died at the scene.

WCNC reported,

“They tell you they’re going to kill you. That’s what they told the man,” said one of Groover’s friends, who was at the scene. “Come in with two guns, tell you they’re going to kill you. He’s got grandbabies and family. You got to have some compassion. I’ve known this man all my life.”

Mr. Groover felt shook up after having to take a life, which is perfectly normal. According to the reports, he is not likely to be charged because his action was in self-defense. The second suspect is still at-large, and police are looking for him.
