Obama vs Fox News- “we have to change how the media reports”
So much for “Freedom of the Press.” Obama took a stab at Fox News during a discussion on the War on Poverty for their reporting of “poor people,” by saying that “we’re going to have to change how the media reports on these issues.” Seriously? And what does Obama know about economic struggle? Nothing whatsoever.
In the land of free press
Obama only wants reporters who kowtow before him, kiss his butt, and follow his every dictatorial move the way he wants. Let’s take a look at the transcript of his remarks:
I think that the effort to suggest that the poor are sponges, leeches, don’t want to work, are lazy, are undeserving, got traction. And look, it’s still being propagated. I have to say that if you watch Fox News on a regular basis, it is a constant venue. They will find folks who make me mad. I don’t know where they find them. They’re all like, “I don’t want to work. I just want a free Obama Phone, or whatever.” And that becomes an entire narrative that gets worked up. And very rarely do you hear an interview of a waitress, which is much more typical — who is raising a couple of kids and doing everything right but still can’t pay the bills.
And so, if we’re going to change how Rep. John Boehner (R-OH) and Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) think, we’re going to have to change how our body politic thinks, which means we’re going to have to change how the media reports on these issues, and how people’s impressions of what it’s like to struggle in this economy looks like. And how budgets connect to that. And that’s a hard process because that requires a much broader conversation than typically we have on the nightly news.
Instead of fixing the problem, the system gets bigger
The purpose of government assistance is not to propagate that assistance, it’s to help people over the bumps in life – things which should be temporary. But Obama has turned government programs like “Obamaphones”(13 million of them) and food stamps into dependency on the federal government. Instead of how can we help them get OFF government assistance, he openly welcomes people ON to government assistance. All at taxpayer expense.
Giving a hand up, not a hand out
It’s all the media’s fault that America’s debt is out the roof. It’s all the media’s fault that Obama’s policies have failed to do anything but create more poverty. It’s the media’s fault for all of it. Wait, I thought it was all George Bush’s fault? It’s always someone else’s fault, it’s never his. Wait for the next executive action designed to clamp down on the Press, and Fox in particular. Stay tuned.
